So, there was this guy named John A. Macdonald. He hated just about everybody, but he especially hated Americans and was always worried that they were going to take over British North America. (This is not completely paranoia speaking; some of them actually did want to. Blame the British for secretly helping the Confederates in the American Civil War out of spite for losing the American Revolution.) SO, he went up to the queen, who was one of the people he actually did not hate, and went "lolol can we try and gather together a bunch of the colonies around here to be a nation so we can still be dependent on you but have less of a chance of being taken over?". The queen was fine with that since imperialism was getting kind of unpopular anyway.

Thus, John A. Macdonald went around asking people to join his ~*~ideal nation~*~, which would be a "strong, centralized British North America" that took up half the continent. He got Upper Canada, Lower Canada, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Newfoundland, PEI and BC were jerks and didn't want to come. This was when he realized that, although he would much rather love on England and hate the French and generally go around acting like my grandmother, Quebec had a bunch of voters so he should be nice to the French. That is why he won the 1867 federal election and a bunch of elections after that. I swear, except for one small term called the Liberal Interlude, 1867-1896 was Macdonald land. Can you imagine having Harper for thirty years? Eugh. Neither can I.

However, Joseph Howe did not like this idea. He was the first significant separatist in Canadian history, which might make you think that he was from Quebec, but no. He was from Nova Scotia. They only wanted to join Canada so they wouldn't be taken over by the Americans (thanks to a convincing argument by Charles Tupper, Howe's enemy), and, immediately after, started thinking of ways to get out of the deal. Macdonald was obsessed with expanding to the West, and Howe was all "screw the wheat, we have lobster :|" (actually, it was "Don't look to the backwoods of Canada", but it comes to the same thing) and didn't care about the West. Jerk. He also didn't want to be in a country with French people.

So he headed a separatist movement from 1867-1868.

Yes, the very same year that they joined the country in the first place. I don't get it either.

Eventually, Macdonald got him to change his mind. Historians suspect that bribery was involved. Either way, Joseph Howe's separatist movement was a fantastic failure and Macdonald decided to go to Britain to ask for more land again. This time, he sent Georges Cartier and William Macdougall (I keep thinking of the singing frog from Max Keeble's Big Move. Go ahead and laugh) to the Hudson's Bay Company.

Close enough.

See, there was a big chunk of land called Rupert's Land, which encompasses everything in the present-day Canada that, back then, wasn't either Canada, BC, PEI or Newfoundland. HBC said yes, they could have it when December 1st, 1869 rolled around. Macdougall went off to Rupert's Land, which they were now calling the Northwest Territories. They set up a governor and advisors since they didn't think they needed provinces there until it was settled. ~lolol racism~

So a bunch of surveyors arrived in what is now Manitoba. We should now turn our attention to Fort Garry, Red River (now Winnipeg). In 1867, when Canada was founded, the Red River Colony already had the greatest concentration of people in Rupert's Land. Now that we're at 1869-1870, there was a recorded population of 12,000 people and THAT WAS BIG BACK THEN, OKAY. So there were native people, Metis, Country Born (which is Scottish/Native, and I don't know why they're called that), Ontario people and Americans. Why is this important anyway? The demographics led to CONFLICT OVER THE FUTURE OF THE WEST. See, that's exciting. You probably want to keep reading now. So there.

Louis Riel is a pretty important guy, eh kills Thomas Scott and doesn't afraid of Anglophones. Seriously, he was a Metis leader at Red River, where the Metis were pretty ticked off that they hadn't been consulted about their land being given to Canada. They take advantage of the time period when HBC has given up the land but Canada hasn't officially taken it yet, form a provisional government and no u the land transfer. Macdonald just postpones the transfer and tries to negotiate with them. By January 1870, a settlement was in sight, but then Thomas Scott, a pro-Canadian protestor, starts rebelling all over the place and generally makes a nuisance of himself. The Metis government can't deal with this guy and they have him executed on March 4th, 1870. French-Canadians, who generally sympathize with the Metis because Catholic Francophones have to stick together, are like "well, who cares, they're the government and they can hang people." English-Canadians are "RARGH MURDERERS THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO DO THIS DON'T YOU DARE DO ANYTHING NICE TO THESE PEOPLE KILL THEM ALLLLL." So they send a bunch of soldiers down there to make sure it doesn't happen again. Manitoba is founded as a concession and the new transfer date is July 15th, 1870.

So now we have five provinces. BC finally joined in 1871 because Macdonald was all gung-ho about building a railway across the country and they thought that sounded pretty cool. This was good for Canada because they would be the ~*~Gateway to Asia~*~, which meant more trade. PEI decided to stop being jerks and they came too when 1873 rolled around. Why? Macdonald paid off their national debt. You see why he's suspected of bribing Howe. Now we have seven.

Back to Macdonald. You see, when we think of him, we think of the railway. It isn't just a personal obsession he had, though -- railways were in vogue back in the day. You couldn't get things to landlocked areas on a ship, you know, and railways could move people and goods even in winter. In 1859, the Grand Trunk Railway was already the longest railway in the world, even though all it did was connect Ontario and Quebec, and in 1867, the Intercolonial Railway attached the Maritimes to the two. There was absolutely no reason for him not to make another railway that stretched all the way to the Pacific.

Oh, and the Americans were doing it. This naturally meant that they would take over the West if Canada didn't do something about it. According to Macdonald, anyway.

Alexander Mackenzie (not the Mackenzie River guy, the Liberal leader) and Edward Blake (Premier of Ontario, also a Liberal) thought the whole idea was stupid. Macdonald was taking pains to make the railway go through Canada the whole way, even though a route through the USA would be more profitable, because AMERICANS = BAD. They thought he would bankrupt the country with this whole railway thing, but he kept on, with donations from some rich dude named Hugh Allan.

Let's take a detour to how the West was actually being settled then, since the railway had such a stake in it. The Dominion Lands Act was passed in 1872, which divided the prairie provinces (what we have of them, anyway) into townships and gave out the even-numbered sections for free, save for a $10 processing fee. Yes, even back then, they had thinly veiled ripoffs. You also HAD to use the land you got for farming and HAD to live on it, so people wouldn't just sit on the land and sell it for higher. People actually went out and made sure you did. I wouldn't want to have that job.

Back to the railway. In 1872, Macdonald won the election again and concluded the background negotiations with Allan. Oh, and the reason Macdonald won was because he bribed a bunch of people with Allan's help. Macdonald then gave Allan the contract to actually build the CPR. The Liberals found out about the bribery and exposed it everywhere, and the Conservative government was forced to resign in 1873. Macdonald nearly had to retire, but he refused, which everyone thought was kind of dumb because it would surely kill the party or something like that. That's where we get the Liberal Interlude. Mackenzie got the right to run the country from the Governor-General, but then he decided to hold an election anyway. Macdonald lost because everybody hated him. Mackenzie kind of sucked as a PM, though, so Macdonald won the next election in 1878. (That was also when he introduced the National Policy Tariff, which meant that American goods got taxed to protect Canadian manufacturing. This lasted until 1988, but I'm sure you all know that already.)

Allan never did get started on that railway. In fact, absolutely nothing came of it during the Liberal Interlude. Macdonald started working on it again as soon as he went back into power. He went and got William van Horn, who was in the business of building railways already and eventually became the CPR president. They also changed the route after figuring out that just because southern Saskatchewan doesn't have trees doesn't mean it can't grow wheat. The railway was going to go through Saskatoon instead. Go figure. Anyway, thanks to all these railway problems, the West was settled really, really slowly. While all the pioneers in America had already claimed everything, just about all we had were a few towns populated by people from Ontario.

Northwest Resistance! This is my favourite part of history, so I apologize if I tl;dr. In the fall of 1884, Gabriel Dumont was mad. He lived in Batoche with a bunch of Metis people, some of whom left Manitoba because settlers took their land and were driving them out, and the same thing was happening there in Saskatchewan. So, Dumont calls Riel. Macdonald hears about this immediately and has a panic attack because ONOZ RIEL IS BACK SEPARATISTS ARE GOING TO RUIN MY BEAUTIFUL WELL-LAID PLANS. That's almost what they did, too. In March 1885, the Batoche Metis seized power and established another provincial government. This time they were actually breaking laws and stealing land to do it, although the Anglophones in Ontario would tell you that that's what happened both times. The Northwest Mounted Police were already there, too -- they were founded in 1873 after the Cypress Hills Massacre, but we didn't really cover that so you don't need to know about it -- so that was kind of a dumb idea. The Battle of Duck Lake had Dumont's troops fighting the NWMP.

Then there's Big Bear, who was this Cree chief who lived at Battleford. Some of his citizens were kind of sympathetic to Dumont and more just wanted to join in on the violent rebellion party, but he said that was the stupidest idea he'd ever heard. They did it anyway and he got blamed for it. Jerks. The army came out by train and marched northward to put down the resistance, so it was Army VS Metis for a while. The Battle of Fish Creek was a draw, but the Battle of Batoche basicallly decimated the Metis side. Dumont escaped, but Riel surrendered and was hanged, and that's why my classmates back in high school thought Riel was haunting the school even though he actually died a couple of blocks down the street.

People still hated Macdonald. Honore Mercier, who was the premier of Quebec and had a girly name, was one of them. He was a member of the Liberals at first but "wasn't technically a Liberal", probably because Quebec hated the Liberals in general and the bishops went around telling you not to vote for them. Instead, he founded the Parti Nationale and came to power by condemning the hanging of Riel. He also hated Macdonald because he didn't give the provinces enough power. Macdonald didn't know why he would ever want to do a thing like that with all these separatists around. However, without his permission and in the face of his protests, the provinces held the Interprovincial Conference in 1887 (except BC didn't come because they were still jerks) and came up with a bunch of resolutions for provincial rights. They didn't get them all, though. The provinces still can't appoint the Senate.

In 1890, the only really important thing was the Manitoba schools question. They used to have a dual school system like we do here, with public schools and separate schools, only public meant Protestant instead of secular and separate meant French instead of just Catholic. Clifford Sifton did not like this. He thought everyone who came to Canada should conform and become Protestant Anglophones who loved Britain and went on about some great Anglo-Saxon mission in the world or something ridiculous like that. With the help of Premier Thomas Greenway, who is not as important as Sifton, he abolished French as an official language in the province and made it so the only public schools were English Protestant and all the French Catholics had to go to private school. Francophones hated this. I would, too. They demanded that the federal government pass remedial legislation, and assimilationist Anglophones were just as outraged that the government would even consider letting French stay important and valued.

Before that, though, let's talk about Britain. Britain was Macdonald's favourite thing. His second favourite thing was the railway. I'd say that his third favourite thing was gambling, but that's my grandma. I always get the two mixed up. Seriously, though, Macdonald was always worried about the "Little Englander Spirit", a movement that said that they really didn't need an empire and should just cut all their dominions and colonies loose. With all the worries he had about separatists, HE certainly didn't want to separate.

You remember that I mentioned the American Civil War earlier. Macdonald, before Canada actually formed, was divided on the issue; he hated slavery but he hated America more. After the North won, Britain got a little nervous about having helped the losing side and decided to finally patch up relations with the US so their only threats would be Russia and Germany. Macdonald feared that Canadian interests would be compromised to appease the Americans. You see the conflict here; he loves Britain, he hates America, what does he do. Well, when the Washington Conference happened in 1871, he convinced them to let him be one of the British representatives. The Americans still basically got everything they wanted, and Macdonald was disgruntled about it for years.

In the 1880s and 1890s, the time of Riel, Mercier-the-guy-who-wasn't-a-Liberal and Sifton, the Little Englander Spirit was declining and everyone wanted an empire again. Well, everyone who was English. The Francophones didn't want anything to do with this "great Anglo-Saxon mission in the world blah blah blah". There were three different kinds of nationalism, but all three were strong -- French-Canadian nationalism (which hated British imperialism and wanted to protect Francophone rights), English-Canadian liberal nationalism (which the Liberals supported, saying that Canada had to develop into a nation), and imperialist nationalism (which the Conservatives supported, saying that we needed Britain to survive).

Still, a fourth was starting up and becoming very mainstream very quickly: the "new imperialism", which included stuff like the Canadian Imperial Federation League, a branch of the original IFL, who wanted the whole empire to be one country. Even Macdonald wasn't comfortable with the "new imperialism". He had no interest in sending troops to Egypt after the Gordon Incident, for example. <s>We don't talk about the Gordon Incident.</s> No, really, some general named Gordon got killed while trying to suppress a rebellion by people who didn't want to be colonized. Macdonald said "our men and money would be sacrificed to get Gladstone and his men out of the hole they have dug themselves into out of their own imbecility". That was pretty cool, for him.

1891 was election year again, and the main issue this time was the North Atlantic Triangle: that is, Canada's relationships with Britain and America. The economy SUCKED that year, and would continue to suck for a while. The Conservatives, naturally, thought that sticking with Great Britain and supporting local businesses over American ones would help things, but the Liberals thought that they should dismantle the protective tariff and trade freely with the USA. (Note that these positions were reversed when the issue was revisited in the 1980s.) The Conservatives accused the Liberals of wanting to join the USA, while the Liberals said that the Conservatives' Canada would fall apart without free trade (well, they called it 'unrestricted reciprocity', in the tradition of "the older something is, the longer a name it has") and be taken over by the USA. The Liberal leader at the time was Wilfrid Laurier, who had replaced Blake after he in turn replaced Mackenzie. Macdonald had more respect for Laurier than his predecessor in the "worthy opponent" sense. This is why I want those Prime Minister action figures so I can make the two of them fight each other.

Macdonald won and then dropped dead the same year. Must have been all the drinking. The Conservatives had four guys to replace him through the term (including Charles Tupper, remember him?), but none of them could replace Macdonald. The "Four Weak Conservative Leaders" needed some serious help.

Probably part of why Laurier won the next election in 1896, but that wasn't all of it. He seemed to be the perfect equal mix of English and French to please both sides. He was from Quebec, raised Catholic, and called for tolerance and religious freedom, yet he went to English Presbyterian school as a child, ended up going to English university and admired British PM Gladstone. (You remember, the "imbecile".) He always believed in French-English dualism, and his family were Liberals in the Quebecois Rouge tradition, not afraid to criticize either the Church or the British. He was PM from 1896 to 1911, then Leader of the Opposition until he died in 1919, partially because he dropped the tariff issue and started to "act more British" after losing the 1891 election. By 1896, the country was looking at a terrible economic crisis, and he brought a sense of optimism, which also made people vote for him. He also said he'd try and talk Sifton and the Manitoba bunch into letting them have separate schools again, but that didn't work out. At least he tried.

Well, that's why the 20th century was dominated by Liberals like the 19th was dominated by Conservatives (and by that, I mean Macdonald). Oh, but speaking of Sifton, his story wasn't over yet. Although most people either remember him for being from a family of media moguls or using a megaphone as a hearing aid, he was also a politician active in the Manitoba provincial government. Even though he helped abolish separate schools, Laurier convinced him to go into federal politics in 1896, and, in the same year, he became Minister of the Interior. All that did was promote the settlement of the West, and he did his job: he was responsible for the whole "Last Best West" ad campaign we learn about in the pioneer unit in elementary school. When I say ad campaign, I mean ad campaign. This guy sent flyers and speakers and posters to Ontario, the British Isles, continental central and eastern Europe, and, yes, even the USA. Hey, Macdonald was dead, he couldn't object.

Sifton saw the West and wheat as the future of the country. He said Moose Jaw would be bigger than Toronto, which, of course, didn't happen, but you can't blame the guy for hoping. He was as obsessed with getting the West settled as Macdonald was with the railway. The economy was also a lot better by that time, and Red Fife and Marquis wheat were just developed for the dry climate, so the so-called useless land could now be settled and made productive. He got tons of people to come over, even if they couldn't afford the $500 to become homesteaders (should have come earlier when it was only 10 bucks); those who couldn't got jobs working on the railway or in factories to raise the money. Sifton did still have that thing about assimilation, though. In 1905, when Laurier said that they'd been too harsh in Manitoba and insisted that Saskatchewan and Alberta get separate school systems, Sifton flounced out of federal politics. Jerk.

END
(for now)

Otherwise, that's just creepy.

Two, these kinds of situations rarely work out, no matter how happy and determined everyone involved seems to be; the best case tends to be a lot of awkwardness and avoiding the surrogate!friend, while the worst ends up in years of hatred, blackmail, lawsuits and legal tangles about whether the surrogate having a change of heart and running off with the kid is kidnapping or not.

Three, there is no way in the world that I want kids, ever.

(I apologize for those of you on my flist who hate these things.
Last night at anime club, we were watching D.Gray-man (yes, still; we're almost at the end, and I'm sure I've mentioned how hard it is to get them to go through a 13- or 26-episode series half the time, so I have no idea how we've been watching this long) and I brought up...

Me: You know what, how injured are these people? They all should have dropped dead, like, fourteen episodes ago. (It had been about that long since they were last in the hospital or had any sort of timeskip.)
Someone else: Well, who else is going to do it? Everyone else there is worse off than they are.
Me: Point. Then again, that's why Toronto lost last weekend, because they put in a quarterback with a concussion since the other guy was hurt too.
Other person: ...nice sports analogy, Jessi.
Me: I apologize.

I'm either the worst nerd ever or just very representative of my province, I guess.

Otherwise, it is my mother's birthday, but it is also the day that I go and hang around with publishing people pretending to be one of them while nobody is any the wiser (it's good for career motivation, okay :|). At that time, I thought all AU games were either "use AU as an excuse to make people horribly OOC" or "high school, enjoy your mundanization and needless drama". I didn't give it much thought, but noticed that most of the characters seemed all right. Then I saw the game again on a negative F!S... and that actually made me want to app. No, not in the trainwreck/troll sense! The secret maker was whining about all the ships being mod-controlled, and I thought "...why are you complaining about that, that would keep things organized and enhance plot." So I checked out the game and thought "hey, this is actually good. *APPS CHARACTER FROM FANDOM NOBODY PROBABLY KNOWS, AT LEAST THAT WAY IF IT SUCKS I WON'T BE LETTING ANYBODY DOWN BY LEAVING*". And I did not leave.

2. Personally, what's your favourite anime?

As much as the Pretty Cure fandom is my internet home, my favourite series will always be Kanon. Both versions of Kanon. Sure, the Toei version had ugly art, a low budget, and storylines that made no sense because they gave three haremettes an episode each to tell their entire arcs, but it was one of the best series of its time simply because the story and the emotion still got through. Then the KyoAni version came along and just blew it out of the water in every way possible, leaving a lasting impression on everyone (although it did draw the ire of people bitter that they weren't doing another Suzumiya Haruhi or Full Metal Panic -- nobody made fun of the Key art style before 2006). I love the art style and the story and the characters and the fact that it actually has a happy ending and aaaaaahhhh. ;A;

3. Most treasured memory?

Back in grade eight, my friend and I made a pass-around notebook called The Bleh Book (because you can write "BLEH" on a calculator but not "BLAH" -- this was in the days before calculators with letters, sob I'm such a geezer). Basically, we just wrote everything in there that we observed, although we censored it after we read it so we wouldn't get in THAT much trouble if we were found out. (This usually just took out the cursing, so we did still get busted and lectured, even if all the teacher could see was "C.L. is *********************** and ******************** cows **************.") We weren't usually mean, though, just complaining about life being unfair and the weird things that happened at school -- like how the aforementioned C.L. tried to frame someone for smoking cigarettes at recess when they were really just out by the shack to try and catch grasshoppers. I promised I'd write a book about that year someday, but now I'm afraid I'd get sued.

4. Describe one thing you remember from your childhood.

In grade one, my friend moved away to Indian Head, which is a town that's pretty far from here. Being six years old with no concept of distance, I decided that I was going to run away to go find my friend in Indian Head, never mind that I had no idea where it was. Every recess I would plot to sneak away, and every recess I didn't make it out of the park before someone caught me and dragged me back. I was a failure kid, but at least I got my exercise.

Wait, that's a lie. I did make it to the mini-mall across the street once. Then I chickened out and went back.

5. Dreams for the future?

I know I want to be an editor, but I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to do that. It's kind of scary, to be honest. I'm always afraid that I won't be as successful as my dad or that I'm just going to be a hobo or something. My brother, who insists that I will be a hobo, does not help.

-

From luke_atmey:
1.) When you first fell in love with Sailor Moon (EVERYONE DID, YOU CAN'T LIE), which was your favourite senshi and has it changed since then?

I liked Ami because she was smart. This was back when I thought I had to identify with smart characters because they all had glasses and so do I. Besides, she was water/ice and I was a water sign. I rewatched it later and still like Ami, but Rei is my favourite now, at least in the manga and PGSM. (Why did the anime have to completely change her character?)

2.) What's the yuckiest food you've ever eaten?

After my grandma died when I was nine, everyone and their mother started sending us food. My mom's coworker sent us this disgusting beef casserole. It looked all right -- it had noodles in it, at least -- but it tasted like tires. I didn't touch any kind of casserole for the next year before I realized that they weren't all gross.

3.) Do you agree that Kanye West fails and fails hard?

Yes.

4.) What IS your favourite colour?

Dark red. What superpower is it and whom do you give it to?

Hmm, this is hard. I would probably cheat and save it so that, if someone needed help, I could give them exactly the thing that would work for that situation. I tend to sit on useful things like that. ^^;

2) Song lyric or anything similar that's been stuck in your head lately?

Well, I have been listening to the Nanoha OSTs a lot. None of those pieces have lyrics, though.

3) Pimp me one of your fandoms! Why do you like it, should people read it, is it awesome? ♥

Hmm. Well, since I've already mentioned Key here, I might as well fangirl it again. Yes, people make fun of the art style with the big eyes and small mouths and huge faces and moe overload. I quite like it, especially the way KyoAni did their adaptations. Besides, the major thing about Kanon or AIR or anything else they've done is the story, particularly how they really get you to feel for the girls and want to hug them and fix their tragic childhood traumas. Yes, there is a lot of drama and it makes people cry a lot, but I don't think it's the kind of thing that makes you hate the world. Plus all their stuff is of the mundane-fantastic variety and that makes me happy. ♥

4) L.M. Montgomery said in one of her books that our direction is more or less fixed by the time we're twenty. Do you think that's true? What's your direction?

It's supposed to be true, but not everybody knows where they're going when society says they should. I think I know where I'm going, but I don't know if I'll be any good at it or be able to make it, and that seriously freaks me out.

5) What little thing never fails to make you smile?

Reading old RP logs, no matter how awful I was back then or how old it is or if I'm even playing the character anymore or even if the game's still alive. ^^; I get too emotionally invested, don't I?

I decided to watch all of Gunbuster in a night. It's only six episodes long, so that wasn't much of a problem. My thoughts:

✛ I almost cried. Multiple times.
✛ Is Jung bipolar or just tsundere? She makes no sense. One scene it's "rargh I am the best I hate everyone who tries to be as good as me" and the next it's "hey guys let's go eat pastries and go to the beach!".
✛ Every time you think they're done with the gratuitous nudity, no. No, they really aren't.
✛ Noriko ripping her top in half in the finale kept giving me Power Rangers Wild Force vibes. I couldn't unsee Cole ripping off his shirt and swinging on vines. I'm sorry.
✛ Semi-related: Noriko needs to invest in a bra.
✛ This is the kind of show with a lot of references, but not really blatant like Lucky Star or anything made by SHAFT. Then again, maybe I just didn't catch most of them.
✛ It is also highly amusing at times, especially in how it takes things seriously. Why do the pilots need to jump rope for training again? In their machines?
✛ This show messes with general relativity and time in space more than Soukou no STRAIN did. Wow.
✛ The nudity needs another mention. I'm sorry. It does.
✛ Oh, Gainax, you and your bittersweet endings. At least this one made logical sense.

Someone rec me some more old-school anime. I feel like getting in touch with my roots.

Why, you ask?

♥ Nanoha A's PSP game. Is that Chrono I see as a playable character? Is that Zafira I see as a playable character -- in humanoid form, at that? Euno isn't playable, but he also seems to be getting some screen time, miracle of miracles. I wonder how successful Force has been, to have them giving their male characters attention.
♠ Speaking of Nanoha, the movie trailer's up. Maybe it's all in the name of giving Fate more love, not that she hasn't gotten enough, but we have Loli!Alph with more than one line, Alicia flashbacks with Sane!Presea, and, apparently, Linith. (Or Rinis; they've never given us an official spelling.) Linith is important enough to be in the promo picture. Guess what? So are the boys.
♣ Fresh/Splash*Star crossover OVA. I thought Toei had been treating Splash*Star as old shame, what with the lack of crossover merchandise, that ratings chart they released a few years back that said nobody liked it, and other such things. It makes me wonder if it'll fit in with any of the three previously shown crossovers (probably the movie, since neither of the others had Fresh). Neither is my favourite season, but the cast list has me interested. Listed are the four Fresh girls and the four Splash*Star girls.

Yes, four.

The Kiryuu twins are in this movie.

The freakin' Kiryuu twins are in this movie.

With lines.

I think I just died of happy.

Also, I redid all the fandom-related tags in my journal. Gah. *flops*

SaiFancharacter at precure is going decently. Yoko is the only one of my characters remaining and she doesn't have a chance, but if she loses, I hope someone from Shining wins. I really like that one.

One thing about school starting now that sucks is the Douglas Park byelection. Thanks to that, Crown corporations can't do promotional giveaways or booths in the city until it's over. Besides the fact that this means that they won't be at Welcome Week, which means that I can't add to my promo collection, this also means that we do not get the SaskTel donut stand at same week. B| This fails.

Celebrity gossip these days is disgusting. It's supposed to be there to satisfy fans' curiosity about small things, isn't it? Protip: when celebrities say "the cameras are so mean", they aren't whining like you think they are. These people deliberately say things that'll get a bad reaction, just like school bullies, then use that reaction to ruin the poor person's life for the fun of it.
